MADELEINE Albright made history in 1997 after she became the first female secretary of state in the United States. On March 23, 2022, it was announced that she passed away at the age of 84. Albright’s death was first confirmed in a statement by her family.
The statement stated, “We are heartbroken to inform that Dr. Madeleine K Albright, the 64th US Secretary of State and the first woman to hold that office, died away earlier today.”
“A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend has passed away.”
She died after a long battle with cancer, it was later learned.

Joseph and his sister Alice were adopted by their mother’s second husband, and their surname became “Albright”.
