Legendary Sri Lankan Actress, Sumana Amarasinghe, dies at aged 74

Sumana Amarasinghe was an actress in Sri Lankan entertainment industry. She was an extremely actress whose acting from drama to comedy and known to be the Sweet girl in Sinhala cinema.

Apart from acting, she also worked as an assistant director, production manager, costume designer and being a top producer of her time.

Sumana Amarasinghe relatives were the first people who announced that the veteran Sri Lankan actress has passed away at the Sri Jayewardenepura Hospital last night after a heart attack.

Close relatives mentioned that the date of her funeral of the now deceased actress will be announced later on.

Sumana Amarasinghe age was year 74 year old at the time of her death. She was born on 21 February 1948 at Kandy, Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka).  She was the second kid in her family and was raised alongside her six siblings.

Sumana father used worked at the Inland Revenue Department. Since her family could not afford to stay at Colombo and stayed in the rented house at Mt Lavinia.

The duo has also shares two kids. De Silva passed away on 30 June 2018 while being treated for a heart attack at Sri Jayawardenepura General Hospital. His remains were buried at 2 July 2018 in the Borella Cemetery.

She has also played a movies such as Rena Giraw, Dahasak Sithuvili, Samanala Kumariyo as well as Hathara Peraliya.  Apart from acting, she was involved in the beauty industry, where she learned beauty courses in India, Singapore, and Canada.

Her first major breakthrough came in the 1975 film Sukiri Kella, which gave her nickname “Sweet girl in Sinhala cinema.
