Semajs Short age, 24, was attacked at the housing area in the Bertie Correctional Institution in Windsor just around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. First responder officials performed life-saving measures, but he died around 30 minutes later, a news release from Department of Public Safety spokesperson John Bull reported.
Three other prisoners were also injured during the scuffle. They were moved to the medical facility centers with injuries that was termed as non-life threatening. The prison was under the lockdown rules as investigators are trying hard to figure what actually happened.
No staff members were injured for the DPS reported. Windsor police and the State Bureau of Investigation are looking after the murder incident. DPS said it is cooperating and will seek criminal prosecution against any prisoners involved in the altercation.
