Fort Bragg soldier pronounced dead after being found in car identified as major
Maj. Eric “Adam” Ewoldsen, a soldier found unresponsive in a parked car on Fort Bragg on Friday, was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to a statement from Fort Bragg’s US Army Special Operations Command.
Officials say Ewoldsen, 38, was pronounced dead at Womack Army Medical Center.
“The unexpected loss of Adam is a tragedy for his family, friends, and fellow soldiers,” said Lt. Gen. Jonathan Braga, commanding general of the US Army Special Operations Command. “He was a fantastic officer and teammate who will be much missed.”
Officials also did not release the time and location where Ewoldsen was found.
According to a statement from the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Public Affairs Office, the soldier, assigned to the command, was rushed to Womack Army Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, the statement said.
The cause of the death is under investigation. The soldier’s name was not released. His next-of-kin are being notified, according to the statement.
