FRSC Sector Commander in Cross River State, Maikano Hassan, has confirmed a single incident that resulted in the death of a middle-aged woman in Calabar yesterday when she was hotly pursuing her husband over his “lover.” When speaking with Vanguard yesterday, the Sector Commander said that overspeeding was to blame for the event.
He said that the sole female driver of the Toyota Highlander, who ran off the road and into a ditch next to the road during the collision on Calabar’s Murtala Muhammed Highway, died. Although the woman was brought to a local hospital right afterward, according to him, she passed away a few minutes later as a result of the injuries she got in the incident.
According to information obtained by Vanguard, the woman was reportedly chasing after her husband, who was allegedly driving around with a “side chick,” when she lost control of her car and killed herself in the process. According to a source who did not want her identity published, the woman attempted to block her husband’s car with the Toyota Highlander she was driving when she saw him leaving the SPAR shopping center with another woman.
Her husband is said to have driven his car out of the attempted barrier and onto the Murtala Muhammed Highway as his wife pursued him closely. The insider said that the woman tried to outrun her husband but lost control of the speeding car, drove off the road, and hit a tree, killing herself and causing irreparable damage to the car.
