Maggie Peterson Mancuso’s family revealed on Monday that the actress and singer, who played Charlene Darling on “The Andy Griffith Show,” died on Sunday, May 15. On Monday, the news was shared on the Andy Griffith Show Museum’s and Mancuso’s Facebook pages.
“She went quietly in her sleep with her family present,” a family member said on Mancuso’s page. Mancuso’s health had deteriorated following the loss of her husband, Gus, according to the post, and a private service will be held in the coming weeks.
