Simmermacher, meantime, had led after the first round in Cape Town but was tied for second with Pace on +2 coming into the final day, with a third-round 77 (+5) dropping her down the leaderboard in the windy conditions.
Birdies on the fifth and ninth holes placed the Argentinian in contention, but two bogeys and two birdies on the back nine saw her finish in 70 strokes and set up a tense finish.
The par-five 18th had been causing problems for players all week, with the tight green and water on the right-hand side causing all sorts of problems to avoid. As a result, both players kept things relatively routine for their first three shots down the last, each making par.
