The wrestling community laments the loss of Jamin Pugh, better known by his stage name Jay Briscoe. The wrestler, who had been a member of the ROH (Ring of Honor) wrestling organization since 2022, died at the age of 38.
“Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today”, Khan wrote.
ROH owner Tony Khan announced the news on Tuesday evening.
“Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin”.
The wrestling executive finished his tweet by lauding Briscoe’s accomplishments, and giving his condolences:
Jay Briscoe was officially in the Hall of Fame of the Ring of Honor. Thirteen times, he and his brother Mark Briscoe were the ROH World Tag Team Champions. Among their many other achievements, the Briscoe brothers have held the IWGP World Tag Team Championship.
What caused his death?
On January 17th, Briscoe was killed in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware. He and two other passengers were traveling when the accident happened at about 5:30 ET. According to Delaware State Police, one of the passengers also passed away.
