Archie Battersbee passed away on Saturday at 12:15 p.m., according to his mother Hollie Dance. Ms. Dance said she had fulfilled all of her son’s promises as the family prepared to remove Archie’s life support on Saturday.
Speaking through tears outside the Royal London Hospital, Hollie Dance said: “In sadness, Archie passed at 12.15 pm today.
“I would just like to say I am the proudest mum in the world. “He was such a beautiful little boy. He fought right until the very end and I am so proud to be his mum.”
Late on Friday, after the High Court ruled that he must remain at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, east London, a last-ditch request for the European Court of Human Rights to intervene in the case was denied.
In recent days, Archie’s parents filed requests with the High Court, Court of Appeal, and European Court of Human Rights to have him transferred to a hospice to die after a protracted legal battle over the discontinuation of therapy.
