Dontae Sharpe is well known Afro American man from North Carolina who was wrongfully convicted for killing a white guy.
Dontae spent 26 years in prison for something that he never did. He was aroubd 44 year old when he was finally released. When serving 24 years in prison, he rejected several plea offers that might have given him less sentence.

Dontae Sharpe Horrible Trials and Tribulations
In around 9:15 p.m. on the fateful day of February 11, 1994, George Radcliffe was shot dead in his Mazda pickup truck which is close to Sheppard and West Sixth streets which is in Greenville, North Carolina.
The neighborhood is known for being the residence for being the hub of African-American with a bad reputation for drug activity; Radcliffe was white guy, and police believed the shooting was likely related to a drug related issues.
Three hours later police went to arrest the then 19 year old Dontae Sharpe and Mark Joyner was arrested and charged with first degree murder. Sharpe was a small drug dealer and it is reported that police has been trying to caught him and booked him on drug charges.
A month later following Sharpe arrest, the cop found another witness who seen Sharpe at the shooting. Her name was Beatrice Stokes. She was an addict and knew the main officer on the case who was Detective Ricky Best as he had aided her in the past.
They met numerous times, but Best later testified that he took no notice about their meetings or filed any sort of reports on what she said.
There was also no forensic evidence tying Sharpe to the crime scenario. The police department finger print technician had to wait for nearly three days to process Radcliffe’s truck and thanks to such a delay, only two prints suitable for comparison was found. The technician later reported that neither Radcliffe nor Sharpe was the main source of these prints.
Sharpe main trial in Pitt County Superior Court started in the summer of 1995. Judge Richard Parker ordered both sides to disclose their witness. But neither of the alleged convicts did, Assistant DA Clark Everett said he had security concerns for the witness.

Sharpe had two alibi witness which is her aunt and neighbor. They went to testify that Sharpe was with them for the most of the evening, having dinner and visting them during the time when Rad cliffe was shot.
However Sharpe was convicted and taken into custody on 17 July 1995 and later sentenced to life in prison.

After nearly three decades of back and forth court case , deadlines and thanks to Dontae lawyers, he was finally released in 2019. At the time of his release , he was 44 year old . In the 24 years of his trial and prison sentence he had also rejected several plea offers that could have given him lesser sentence.

He also went to told the Associate Press that his mother has also told him that if he did not did anything, then don’t own up. Don’t Say You Did It. Furthermore, he also said that his ultimate faith give him postitive to aid Dontae to help him when he was surrounded by all sort of negative and disturbing comments.
