Two Cordova Caregivers have been charged with the death of an elderly patient following a collaborative investigation by TBI special agents and the Memphis Police Department.
TBI’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division entered the Memphis Police Department’s continuing investigation on March 4, 2021, at the request of 30th District Attorney General Amy Weirich, after Cynthia Garrison, 60, suffered life-threatening injuries. Anthony Freeman, a caregiver, was arrested by MPD in February 2021. He was accused of aggravated maltreatment of a vulnerable adult and evidence manipulation.

Hightower was apprehended on Tuesday with the help of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
