Sylacauga High School rising senior dies in tragic accident
Sylacauga High School (SHS) students and faculty, as well as the surrounding community, are mourning the untimely death of a soon-to-be senior.
Brighton Clary died in a car accident on Thursday morning, June 2.
Clary had recently completed her junior year at SHS, where she had been a key member of the Lady Aggies’ varsity softball and volleyball teams. Clary volunteered with several groups in Sylacauga, including Veritas and the parks and recreation department’s minor league softball program.
Curtis & Son Funeral Home is still working on the arrangements, which will be released at a later date.
A candlelight vigil will be held at the Pinecrest Softball Field west of Highway 280 on Friday, June 3 from 7:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The vigil is for SCS players, parents, and employees. SHS and Nichols-Lawson Middle School have set up extra counseling sessions on both campuses for individuals who need it at this difficult time.
