Brexten Green, a redshirt sophomore football player for Emporia State University, passed away on July 2 as a result of a cliff diving accident in Grand Lake in Oklahoma.
“It’s a terrible day for Emporia State football and just a devastating loss for the Green family,” Emporia State football coach Garin Higgins said.
Oklahoman-born Green was preparing for his second season at Emporia State. He gained 1,720 receiving yards as a senior in 2020 and helped the Cashion Wildcats win the Class A State Championship, earning him the title of District A-3 Player of the Year.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his parents Brett and LaMae and the entire family,” Higgins said.
