Russia shoots and kills journalist Brent Renaud in Ukraine
Brent Renaud has been identified as the journalist who was killed by Russian forces outside of Kyiv in the town of Irpin while working in the area. His vehicle was hit at a checkpoint in Irpin, just outside the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, when he was gathering information for a report on refugees, according to reports.
However, he had not been assigned by any official authorities in Ukraine at the time when the incident occurred, despite the fact that he was operating with a times press badge that had been issued many years before.
He was killed On March 13, 2022, while covering the Russian invasion of Ukraine in a neighborhood near Kyiv. Two more journalists were hurt and were brought to the hospital. The group of journalists was photographing citizens leaving across one of Iran’s bridges when Russian forces targeted them and shot Renaud in the neck, according to one of the journalists Juan Arredondo.
Renaud’s death was the first documented fatality of a foreign journalist in the Ukraine conflict of 2022.

Brent Renaud was 50 years old at the time of his death. He was born in October 1971 in Memphis, Tennessee but later moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, and grew up there along with his family. Brent is the son of Louis Renaud who is his father and his mother Georgeann Greasier was a social worker.
He also has a brother named Craig Renaud with whom he has covered many wars and documented documentaries regarding it.

Brent Renaud has produced a series of documentaries and television programs with his brother Craig, primarily focused on humanistic stories from the world’s hot areas. The Renaud brothers recorded the Discovery Channel series “Off to War” from 2004 to 2005. It focused on Arkansas reservists serving in Iraq and their families.
The brothers also covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Egypt’s and Libya’s political problems, African conflicts, the Mexican drug war, and the Central American refugee crisis. They earned a Peabody Award for their video series “Last Chance High” in 2015, as well as other accolades in television and journalism.
