A former Higley High School teacher has been accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old pupil, and Gilbert police believe this is not his only young victim. Aaron Dunton, 35, was arrested on June 16th, following a months-long investigation into his alleged relationship with a 14-year-old girl. After the initial claims surfaced in April, Dunton resigned from the school, and an email was sent to parents. He had been teaching at Higley since July 2021.
Police say another victim came forwards during the investigation and accused the 35-year-old of “incidents” that occurred while he was a teacher at Power Ranch Elementary in 2019. From July 2015 to May 2021, he worked as an elementary school teacher. Dunton was the victim’s instructor at the time, and he was 11 years old.
There was no further information revealed concerning the allegations. He is now facing four counts of aggravated assault, one case of witness tampering, and two counts of contributing to delinquency and dependency.
